City of Tanjung Pinang as the capital of Riau Island store a myriad of tourist charms, ranging from cultural tourism, historical, and maritime. One of the maritime heritage that still survive is a Dragon Boat Race by the local community also known as “Tanjung Pinang Dragon Boat Race”.

Activities that take place every mid-November of this, since the year 2002 set as one of the annual event the City Government of Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands Province.

B. Feature

Dragon Boat Race held in Cape Coast leadership is quite special. Number of personnel in a team of 15 (fifteen) members, with a composition of 12 (twelve) persons serving as rowers, 1 (one) as the Tekong / driver, and 2 (two) for backup.

Unlike the other dragon boat race, the route to reach the finish line in a Dragon Boat race Tanjung Pinang is also quite unique. The participants have to pedal a boat as far as 300 m and then turned back to take the same path to the finish line exactly where the original start. Thus, participants race a distance of about 600 m to be the fastest. Each Dragon Boat Race participants must travel the route in a path that is made as wide as 6 m to 4 Dragon Boat.

In order to liven up this race, since 2002 until now held several additional competitions, such as race kayak / canoe, swim with the route Tanjung Pinang Beach and Penyengat Island Beach diving competitions, traditional canoe paddle race, traditional screen boat race, and race jong (ship replicas).
